My Favorite Person is HH

there’s no denying it! HH has completely taken up my entire heart.  As I see a new milestone being reached e v e r y single d a y, I forget how little he really is. How young. How tender. How innocent. How pure.

He acts much older than his age, and I treat him as if we are equals, not like he is a baby.

The Day He Spotted A Basketball

If you don’t believe in love-at-first-sight then you haven’t seen these photos!  While packing up the stroller for a picnic at Treasure Island with friends, Henry spotted his daddy’s basketball in the trunk of the car.

He reached for it and the rest is history.  He hasn’t let it leave his sight.   Hen is currently holding it in his little lap sitting on the floor next to me while I type this.  Oh BOY!

Still don’t believe me? We wanted to test out the “ball”

Still don’t believe me? We wanted to test out the “ball” and see if he would get the association if we were on a basketball court.  Well, I’m happy to report that he knew exactly what to do. Let’s say he learned it from television.  He and his dad have “guy time” when big sporting events are on TV and with the end of March Madness, Hen picked up a thing or two.

Henry + His {Lady} Friend, Miss Lizzie

Henry has a pint-sized friend named Lizzie.  We’ve been having playdates together since Hen was just a few months old.  The smile(s) on their cute, sweet faces when they see each other just melts my heart.

We visited the “Super Bowl City” in downtown SF last weekend and hung out at the Ferry Building.  Even though both babies were in their carriers, they could not keep their hands off of each other. Literally…

We will be headed to Tahoe together in two weeks where the two will be inseparable, I’m sure.

The Front Facing Carrier – Lille Baby

Henry is a curious little man!  He is always wide-eyed observing his surroundings.  To help him with this, we decided to get a forward facing carrier.  It’s been on the to do list for a couple weeks, but I’ve been scouring Craigslist and mom group forums to find a used one, which wasn’t really working.

However, I recently went to a baby consignment shop and found this Lille Baby one for $20!  For a carrier that costs $120 new, I couldn’t pass up this deal!

We had a chance to try it out this weekend and loved it! With some many different brands out there, it can seem overwhelming to get the “right” one.

Reasons we like it?

a) It has a zippered pocket – score!  I can easily keep my keys, ID, and debit card on my body without carrying a purse.

b) It has a little hood that attaches to protect the baby from the sun if we forget his sun hat.  Awesome!

c) It is sturdy and well made!  It’s also super comfortable for the wearer and the baby.

d) It has an adjustable seat size so that you can carry the tiniest of babies all the way up to 45 pounds while providing ergonomic support.

Henry’s Private Tent

We live an active lifestyle that keeps us outside most days. Because of this, we are very careful about the direct sun exposure Henry gets while we are out.  I purchased this cute little tent at a yard sale for a few bucks and take it everywhere!

Whether we’re at the beach, the playground, or a brewery, we can just pop it up and plop him in it.  He is LOVING it!

He loves it so much that it makes him worry about “life on the outside!”

Mama & Baby Afternoon

Because I’ve been away on work travel, I was needing some 1:1 time with Mr. Henry Hayes!  After a few hours of work, we headed to downtown San Francisco to play tourist for a day and stroll around in the sunshine.

We played with leaves in Washington Park in North Beach. We said HELLO to the sea lions at Pier 39. We got a coffee in Fisherman’s Wharf. We looked at the boats in the Bay and snapped photos of Alcatraz Island.  In short, we had an AWESOME day.

From the smiles and giggles I got from him, I would say that he was wanting some Mama-time too!IMG_3440IMG_3509 IMG_3505 IMG_3501 IMG_3492 IMG_3486 IMG_3473 IMG_3467 IMG_3460 IMG_3456 IMG_3453

What the Hell!

What the hell!! I have an eight month old? How the heck did that happen?

Seriously, this year has been the toughest one of my life so thank heavens Henry kicked off the year with  us or else I’m not sure how I would have made it through.

While everything else seems to be messy and complicated, I can always count on his giggles and gummy smiles to lighten the heaviness of this year.  Because of him, I get up every morning ready to conquer the world.

Every single day, I do my best to make it a little easier for him because life is tough. We live in a harsh world.

I do my part by covering him with kisses, wrapping him in a warm embrace, and giving him more love than is even possible.

Xoxo

Busy Body

Hen is a little busy body!  I’m just waiting for the day he takes his first step, which I truly believe will be very soon. Yes, I realize he is only 7 months old.

And yes, I realize that this sounds crazy.

However, this kid LOVES standing up.  I can see him gain strength and confidence every single day.  He used to use furniture and toys to pull himself up with a grunt, but now he is using his legs to push up while using one hand to lightly stabilize himself.  It is incredible to watch, although I will say that we’ve had a few too many head bumps, which is hard to watch.

Most of the time, he doesn’t seem fazed by it but it makes me wish we had a helmet for him to protect his brain.
