Sundaze: Livin’ The Life

Hen and I headed to the gym yesterday morning to sunbathe on the rooftop sundeck while K did a training swim for his upcoming triathlon.

The amount of cuteness that my little eyeballs witnessed in the two hours we ran around and played on the roof is just something that makes my heart SING!

Just a Sliver of Sunshine Warmth

I would like to say that we have a ton of photos waiting to be uploaded from our Easter weekend, but somehow this is the only one worth sharing.  He is such a nut!

I walked into the kitchen on Easter morning to see Hen resting on the floor in a small sliver of sunshine.

He is quite the mocker…this is where the dogs usually hang out to warm up on chilly mornings. Henry See, Henry Do. (Said like monkey see, monkey do)!

An Apple A Day…

Hen LOVES grocery shopping. He likes riding in the cart. He likes looking at all of the people buzzing around. And he especially likes reaching out for items he wants to add to the cart.

Take this apple for instance:

Once he finished his apple, he wanted out of the cart so that he could touch a few other items that caught his eye.

On this particular trip, he was intent on “helping” the grocery store by pulling off all of the sales tags!  I’m sure people were happy to learn their items were on sale when they went to the checkout – what a surprise that must’ve been!

Sunday Dad Date

On Sunday, K took Hen to our favorite play space, Playhaven, while I stayed home to meal prep and craft with my soul sister, Cookie D!

They met Hen’s best lady friend, Lizzie, and played until they both passed out.

They read books, ate lunch, climbed slides, and did arts and crafts.

Hen has become quite the little artist.  He paints and draws with the nanny during the week and has become one of his favorite activities.

Rainy SF: Noe Valley rec park

Henry and I took advantage of the break in the rain with a stroller ride to the adjoining neighborhood to play in the park.

Hen is obsessed with birds right now!  He uses the sign language sign for it and says “Quack” when he sees one.  He also wants to make sure you see it too and says “LOOK, ” which he said ten billion times today.

…and of course we stopped at a cafe to share a fresh squeezed OJ and a NY bagel. YUM!

Thanks for Your Patience

As I’m busy rearranging the house to get the right “feel” for our family home, Henry is being very tolerant of being moved around the house from room to room to eat. (Thanks, bud).

I have this dream that we will sit around the table and eat our meals together but I can’t seem to get the house QUITE right. The {real} problem?  I don’t feel settled. I don’t feel PROUD of our current housing situation in terms of the material items in it, the decor, the feel, the smell, the ambiance…

I LOVE spending time at home with my family.  Whether we decide to dance to Bob Marley in our underwear or cuddle on the couch to read the same three books (for the 10 billionth time), my best memories and times are of the three of us being in our home.

I don’t love spending time in our house. I love being at home, but not in this home. How do I fall in love with that? How can I change my perspective so that I can turn my negative emotions and feelings into something positive? How do I FIX this?

I don’t know but am currently spending energy trying to figure it out.

On to a happier note, I want to brag about Henry (of course)! He’s my sunshine. My heart. My soul. My everything.

What you may not know is that THIS kid loves food. His favorites are bananas, hummus, bread (of any kind), and chicken.

He has such a gentle, kind heart that he can’t eat without tossing food down to the dogs so that no one feels left out. awwwwwww!!!!

Just look at that sweet sweet face!
It must be noted that we are now in the phase of “helping” which means he will bring me his shoes to put on his feet, bring me wipes to signal a diaper change, and now he likes to have a napkin so that he can clean his face and hands off after eating.

Meditate + Breath

Sometimes I get so wrapped up my daily tasks, to-do lists, and life stressors that I forget to step back, slow down, and take a deep breath.

After a frustrating client call yesterday for work, I took a mini hike to let go of my frustrations. Sounds pretty simple, right? Well, it was! And, it worked!

After a 4+year drought, El Nino has brought a ton of rain our way, which has made everything lush and green.  The sky and the Earth was so beautiful, the hike felt almost magical.

In my thoughts and tasks, I completely forgot to acknowledge that yesterday, February 10th, marked Henry’s 13th-month mark.  How could I have let the day pass without letting him know how excited I am to celebrate another month with him…my favorite person!?

The days are passing me by at such an alarming rate that it seems a lot of things are getting pushed to “tomorrow,” which never actually comes. Because when tomorrow becomes today, it gets pushed to tomorrow again.

I’m doing my best. That’s all I can do.

SF Brunch: Heartbaker

After the beach, we headed to grab a bite to eat at this cute little bakery in the Inner Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco called HeartBaker. YUM! It was delicious!  Henry loved the black beans and avocado from his daddy’s breakfast plate of huevos rancheros.

The bakery is decorated in the most adorable way possible.

…And the peppermint hot chocolate that they made was out of this world! I am dreaming of it as I type this out.
